ESU 2024 KICK-OFF: Put your best foot forward when discovering your voice!

MARCH

21 March9:30-11:30. Kick-Off with past year winners as special guests. Hosts: Villa Maria Academy, Las Condes, Santiago. Registration starts at 9:00 am.

PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION

Eligibility

  • One participant per school is eligible to enter the PSC 2024.
  • Participants must be students from an ESU member school.
  • Participants must be aged between 16 and 20 at the time of the competition.
  • Participants must be passport holders or permanent residents of Chile.

2024’s theme for ESU Chile and all other country’s national competition is:

There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so

All participants will be required to deliver a prepared 5-minute speech on the theme on video, which is sent to esu@esu.cl for judges to view. Video must be received by 15 March for judges to begin their viewing. 
Note, 2024’s PSC Semi-finalists National Competition and IPSC Competition does will include impromptu speech.

15 March 2024 – PSC Registration Deadline

17 March 2024 – PSC 5-min video Deadline (sent to esu@esu.cl  for judges to view/score)

17-24 March – 2024 PSC Round 1 judging (virtual)

25 March – Announcement of 2024 PSC top 10 Semifinalist participants (they will need to make arrangements to travel to the capital city, Santiago for in-person, face-to-face Semifinal and Final heats– venue to be announced)

5 April 2024 – PSC Semifinal and Final Heats– participants must be prepared to deliver their 5-minute prepared speech live, on stage, with an audience. 9:00-11:00 Semifinal Heats; 13:00-15:00 Final Heat. Venue to be announced.

6 April 2024 – PSC Chilean Participant is announced and invited to attend the IPSC at Royal Institute London UK

13-17 May: 2024 IPSC Royal Institute London UK

To be announced (TBA)– PSC Teacher Workshops to assist public speaking skills and activities for interschool competitions for selecting PSC for 2024.

APR-JUNE

10 April – Announce CWC theme/prompts. This year’s theme: “Opposites”

10 May – Closing date for school registration of participant(s): 1 for ages 11-14 and 1 for ages 15-19. Submission of Stories deadline.

11 May – 23 May – Round 1 judging (virtual.)

24 May – CWC Finalists announced.

8 June – CWC Finals Event (in person) – workshop activities / Final judging / Awards. This year will be hosted by The Mayflower School, Santiago, Lo Barnechea.

SPELLING BEE

24 May – Final registration for participating schools and their participants (1 per grade level)

6 June – Rounds for 3rd and 4th Grades.

7 June – Rounds for 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grades.
