Meet the winners of the EWC!
On December 5th, 2019, at the British Ambassador's residence, we announced the winners of the 2019 English Writing Competition.
At the beautiful ceremony, the participants and their families were joined by their teachers, as well as a group of ESU Chile volunteers.
The winner of the Senior Category, Valentina Manfredi, from Santiago College, read her emotional story based on the Niño del Cerro El Plomo. She will now travel to the UK for a 2-week English course at the prestigious Scarborough School of English.
In the Junior Category (7th to 9th grade) the winner of the competition was León Álvarez, from Saint Peter's School in Viña Del Mar.
During the year, participants from all over the country entered the competition by writing an argumentative essay or email. The selected finalists then went on to develop a piece of creative writing, inspired by a visit to Chile’s Natural History Museum.
The winners of the competition were as follows:
At the event, we also announced the winner of the Oracy Teacher Award, Juan Guevara from Colegio Patricio Lynch, Valparaíso.
We would like to thank Ambassador Jamie Bowden and his wife Sarah for all their support in hosting the event. We would also like to thank our generous Sponsors, ICBC and Scarborough School of English, as well as all of the ESU volunteers who helped make this year’s competition a huge success.
